The Horns & The Painting
USD 200
We came across these vintage Indian brass horns, with their bulbous black tops and beautifully curved brass tubing. Traditionally, horns like these were used by ceremonial bands, processions and performers to announce arrivals.
We loved their unique form and the way they instantly reminded us of old-world transport, when every arrival deserved to make some noise.
The horns made us think of transport, journeys and grand arrivals. So we decided to give them a little travel history of their own.
We collaborated with a miniature painter to bring scenes of divine travel onto the black surfaces, featuring gods and goddesses on their vahanas, their traditional animal mounts. New passengers, same old horns.
