The Opener & The Ghungroos
This ornamental bottle opener is hand cast in brass using Bastar's centuries-old Dokhra tradition, this piece draws from a metalworking tradition practiced across central and eastern India for over 4,000 years.
The dancing tribal man, coiled spiral motifs, the elephant and hand-finished texture make this less of a bar tool and more of a small piece of living craft, shaped by a process that has remained largely unchanged.
This vintage Dokhra bottle opener already carried the language of celebration through its tribal figure and ceremonial form. We replaced its original brass ghungroos with coloured metal ones, adding a small but deliberate shift in mood.
This brings a playful contrast to the warm brass without taking away from the craftsmanship.
